I substituted Lamb's Pride Worsted and made additions to suit the thinner yarn: two more ridges of garter stitch for the band at the bottom of the hat, two more cables (16 more stitches), and one more repeat of the stitch pattern. The hat measures 20.5" around for my five year old. Very happy.
